KUWAIT: Reports from Manila quote the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs as saying that one of the employers of slain Filipina worker Joanna Demafelis was found guilty of murder. The Philippine Star said the Syrian district criminal court found Mouna Ali Hassoun guilty of killing Demafelis. Hassoun is the wife of Lebanese Nader Essam Assaf, who is also charged with murder in Lebanon. Both Assaf and Hassoun were sentenced to death (in absentia) by hanging by Kuwait’s Criminal Court last year. In Feb 2018, the body of Demafelis was found in a freezer in an abandoned apartment in Maidan Hawally. – Agencies
