KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah today ordered the re-naming of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister. The Amir charged Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to nominate members of the new cabinet.
The entire cabinet resigned on Monday, following the filing of a no-confidence motion against State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Sabah after a lengthy grilling session on last week.
Sheikh Mohammad was interpolated over alleged administrative and financial irregularities, allegations he vehemently denied.
The national assembly could not hold sessions Tuesday or Wednesday due to the government’s resignation. The parliament, elected in November 2016, has seen tension building as lawmakers announced plans for additional grillings of other cabinet members in the oil minister and social affairs.
