On international recognition on Saudi’s economic ambition, the hosting of the G20 in November of 2020 is an indication that the world is paying attention to Saudi Arabia’s strive to become a well-known economic entity through diversifying output to include commodities other than oil. Saudi Arabia is best known for its strength in the oil sector with the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (ARAMCO) being a recognizable force in the international scene able to adapt to any situation or urgent matter. Politically, Saudi Arabia played an integral role — especially within the Arab and Islamic contexts — in protecting and preserving security in the region and also the world. Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the GCC and Arab summits in the city of Makkah during the month of Ramadan this year is a great indication of the political importance the Kingdom plays and continues to carry out.
Within the social sphere, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made it paramount to push Saudi women to the forefront of society during his reign, enabling them to hold senior positions, which were mostly dominated by men. Women in Saudi Arabia are now able to drive and own their vehicles and are given more social privileges than before all thanks to the wise decisions and decrees ushered by the current King. While Saudi Arabia is going forward within the social context, the Kingdom is acknowledged for its juggernaut effort carried out during the Umra and Hajj as well as its custodianship of the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madina. Saudi Arabia spends a fathomable amount of money to host pilgrims from around the globe, an honor, which Saudis continue to offer for years.
In education, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia put in great effort to educate its subjects with some six million students heading this year to schools and universities throughout Saudi Arabia to receive free education. The wellbeing of Saudi citizens is also a priority with some 2,393 primary health centers and 282 major hospitals — at a capacity of 43,000 beds — providing topnotch healthcare and treatment for the people. As for the mass transportation system, Saudi Arabia constructed 66,000 kilometers of main roads linking the kingdom’s cities in addition to 10, 13, and 28 airports taking people to local, regional and international destinations respectively.
