KUWAIT: Residency violators of Syrian nationality will be granted temporary residencies for longer periods so that they do not violate the law. This decision comes while baring in mind the current situation in Syria, Acting Director of Residency Affairs Department Brigadier Abdallah Al-Hajri said. He noted though that the punishment of those who harbor violators will be revived. “There is a new law that fines the person who harbors violators KD 1,000 and the amount will be multiplied by repeated violations,” Hajri said

Absconding During an interview published by Al- Anbaa yesterday, Hajri said that the problem of ‘absconding complaints’ is about to disappear through a decision which includes many items in a written letter sent by the Manpower Public Authority (MPA) with their approval. Brigadier Hajri said this decision is backed by Assistant Undersecretary for the Nationality and Passports Sector Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah. Meanwhile, Brigadier Hajri said there is a plan to stop using the residency visa sticker and use a smart card instead. He reminded that with the start of the New Year, no residencies will be granted exceeding the validity of the passport. He also informed the number of domestic helpers is more than those with family reunion visas and the domestic helpers’ number reached more than 600,000 so far. — Al-Anbaa
