Private sector has over 60 percent of total manpower
KUWAIT: Kuwaitis continue to prefer working in the public sector as shown evident by recent statistics which indicate that 80.2 percent of local manpower work in the public sector. Meanwhile, the private sector continues to have more than half of the total manpower, as its capacity rose to 60.7 percent from 60.4 percent in 2016. Kuwaitis’ share of manpower in the private sector is 4.3 percent of the total number of workers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah said that his ministry sent expats abroad on 670 official duties to 89 countries. In his response to a question by MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabatabae about the topic, saying that these missions are related to the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, adding that those missions were to attend meetings and visit projects for follow up and evaluation.
The Ministry of Electricity and Water faces crises in supplying the required number of 200-ampere meters, which are necessary for new residential projects. Home owners complained that it is no longer easy to get that type of meters which are obtained through the ministry only. Informed sources said the ministry signed contracts with a company to import 2,000 meter of 200-ampere.
