Youngsters fight in famous café

KUWAIT: Several young men were detained in Salwa police station after a violent fight in a famous café. The men caused extensive damages inside the place. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fight started when one person confronted another for allegedly ‘staring provocatively’ at him, and the two were soon joined by their respective friends.

Scam
Investigations are underway to arrest a con artist who scammed a citizen into paying money for pieces of land that he never provided. In her statements to police, the woman said that she was drawn to an ad promoting pieces of land that can be used to build residential compounds on. She contacted the number given, and arranged to meet the advertiser. She agreed to pay a deposit after checking the land she intended to buy. However, the man never transferred ownership over the land as promised, and refused to return back the money when she asked him to do so, therefore she filed a case with police.

Assault
Juveniles prosecution ordered the arrest of two Juveniles, Somali and Yemeni, for assaulting an Egyptian teenager in Kheitan. The victim obtained a medical report from Farwaniya Hospital showing injuries he said that he sustained during the assault as he filed a case with local police.

Absconding
Police arrested two Ethiopian women who were reported absconding by their employers. The two who worked for a beauty shop in Salmiya were stopped late night by police as they left the shop. Police checked their civil IDs and discovered that they were reported absconding over six months before. They were arrested and sent to concerned authorities.

Suicide
An Asian man hanged himself to death inside a laundry shop in Mahboula in an apparent suicide. His body was recovered by the coroner as police are investigating the case.

Theft
Jahra detectives arrested a Saudi national who works for embassies protection department at the interior ministry on charges of stealing all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the area. Police had receives several complaints from people reporting that their ATVs were stolen from outside of their houses. Detectives identified the suspect through investigations, then arrested him outside of his house. He led authorities to a place where he kept the stolen ATVs. The man was taken to the proper authorities to face charges.

Harassment
Detectives are looking for three persons who harassed a female citizen in Fintas. The woman was near a restaurant in the area when the three approached her and made indecent remarks towards her. The three then chased her when she ignored them, and forced her to stop. She then screamed for help which prompted them to escape, according to her statements to police. – Translated from the Arabic press
