Shooting tournament end in style

KUWAIT: Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah shooting tournament was concluded on Sunday with cups and prizes distributed to the winners at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The event marked the end of the 2016-2017 sporting season at Kuwait Shooting Sports club. A large number of shooters from clubs, National Guard and Sheikh Saad Shooting Academy participated in the tournament. In his speech, Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi welcomed all those present at the closing ceremony. He thanked the patron Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah – the founder of Kuwait Shooting Sports.

The tournament included most Olympic Shooting events like Skeet, Trap, Double Trap, Air Pistol and Rifle, 50 Meter Pistol and Rifle as well as Olympic archery. “I take this opportunity to congratulate all for the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS)’s ruling – in favor of Kuwait Shooting Federation to cancel the decision by the ISSF to suspend KSF activities at the international level,” Al-Otaibi said.

Al-Otaibi also congratulated HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Kuwait people for this ruling, hoping that the suspension be lifted from all Kuwait sports association and all activities. Meanwhile, Sheikh Ali Bin Abdallah Al-Khalifa lauded the unlimited support Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah is giving to the Asian and Arab shooting. He also praised Kuwait Shooting and its achievements at the international and Olympic levels.

Also, Secretary General of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Obaid Al-Osaimi extolled the support the sport is receiving from Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and congratulated the Shooting Community for CAS’ ruling. He said Kuwait Shooting achievements come with generous support of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The results of the tournament were as follows:
10 M Air Pistol (Men) – Hamad Al-Namshan won first place, while Saad Al-Mane and Hassan Al-Mulla secured the second and third position respectively.
10 M Air Rifle (Men) – Abdallah Al-Harby snatched first place – leaving Mohammad Adel in the second place; Suleiman Al-Asousi ended third.
50 Meter Prone Rifle – First place went to Majid Al-Thafiri; Majid Al-Osaimi took second place, while Khalid Al-Subaie grabbed the third position.
Women’s Skeet – Afrah Adel won first place; Sheikha Al-Rashidi won second while Eman Al-Shakmma ended third.
Women’s Trap – Al-Hawal sisters Shahad and Sarah battle to finish as Shahad won the first place leaving her sister in the second place. Fatima Fawzi secured the third position.
10 Meter Air Pistol (Women) – Yasneen Al-Tamimi won first place followed by Al Kawthar Nasser (second) and Mariam Shihab (third).
10 M Air Rifle (Women) – Munira Al-Anjari won first place; Zahra Safar (second); Yara Al-Khalaf took third place.
50 M Pistol (Men) – Hamad Al-Namshan won first place, while Ali Al-Mutairi won second while Saad Al-Mane won third place.
50 M Rifle – Abdallah Al-Harby (first); Mohammad Adel (second); Turky Al-Shemmari (third).
Skeet Men – Abdallah Al-Rashidi (first); Mansour Al-Rashidi (second); Zaid Al-Mutairi (third).
Men’s Trap – Talal Al-Rashidi took the first position; Abdallah Al-Hamli (second); Mohammad Al-Rashidi (third).
Men’s Double Trap – Saad Al-Mutairi (First); Jarrah Al-Shuwaier (2nd); Ahmad Al-Afasi (3rd).
Men’s 50 M Rifle – Abdallah Al-Harby (First); Mohammad Adel (Second); Khalid Al-Subaie (Third).
50 M Pistol Men – Hamad Al-Namshan (First); Saad Al-Mane (Second); Suhail Jassim (Third).
Olympic Archery Event – Faisal Al-Rashidi (First); Taha Abdallah (Second); Mohammad Musallam (Third).
