Scores arrested, weapons confiscated in crackdown

KUWAIT: Interior Ministry Relations and Security Information Department said weapons detectives carried out a wide-range campaign in Naseem, Qasr, Firdous, and Waha, resulting in arresting four citizens and confiscating unlicensed firearms. Detectives also found two AK-47s, three pistols, two rifles, 11 magazines and a large quantity of ammunition. The statement added that two persons wanted to serve a five-year jail sentence were arrested along with two bedoons, who resisted police and hindered their work. All were sent to concerned authorities.

Accidents
A two-car collision resulted in injuring two Arab nationals, who were taken to hospital. The accident took place on Fahaheel Expressway near the Sixth Ring Road intersection, as one of the cars caught fire. Mishref fire center responded and put the fire out.

Food safety
Kuwait Municipality continued its campaigns on food stores, restaurants, cooperatives, markets and warehouses as part of the media campaign during the holy month of Ramadan titled “Your Health is our Concern”. Farwaniya municipality branches carried out a campaign that resulted in issuing 66 citations, including 30 for working before receiving a health certificate, 30 for employing workers before receiving health certificates, two citations for not moving trash to designated areas and a citation for not complying with general hygiene. A store was closed for doing business before receiving a municipality license.

Fire calls
Director of Public Relations and Information at Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) Colonel Khalil Al-Amir said fire departments received 2,879 calls during the first quarter of the current year. He said the number of calls increased by 2.7 percent from the first quarter of 2015.
