Rapist officer’s case adjourned

KUWAIT: The criminal court postponed hearing a case filed against a police officer over charges of sexually abusing a male detainee he had arrested, said security sources, noting that the public prosecution demanded capital punishment for the officer. Case papers indicate that while driving his private vehicle, the well-built officer stopped a citizen to ticket him for a traffic violation before he took him to an isolated spot, where he tied him up and raped him before driving off.

Suicide
A Canadian national killed himself by jumping from the third floor of a Nugra building, said security sources, noting that the building’s tenants heard a loud thud and on checking, they found the man already dead.

Drunk driving
An Asian taxi driver was arrested after gyrating to some songs while driving under the effect of alcohol. He was driving in an unsteady course along Fahaheel Expressway, said security sources. On stopping him, police found the cabbie had a plastic bottle of homemade liquor he had been drinking from while listening to music. The driver was also found wanted for four financial claims.

Fight
A citizen was severely injured when he was stabbed during a fight with two others he knows in Mubarak Al-Kabeer, said security sources, noting that the man’s brother rushed him to hospital and reported the matter to the police. A case was field and a search is on for the assailants.

Murder threat
A citizen filed a case accusing another citizen who has a criminal record of threatening to kill him over some disputes they had, said security sources. A case was filed pending summoning the accused.

Fugitive arrested
A citizen wanted for a six-year prison verdict was arrested in Salmiya after he tried to avoid a checkpoint by driving his vehicle on the wrong side of the road, said security sources. – Al-Rai and Al-Anbaa
