Qatari artist makes Amir’s portrait from gems

DOHA: Qatari artist Abdulsalam Al-Qadi has created a portrait of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah using quartz and Swarovski gems. The shining portrait displayed at Sheraton Hotel in Doha has drawn hundreds of onlookers at the hall to see the piece of art, created on the occasion of Kuwait’s national days.

Qadi said that he had chosen His Highness Sheikh Sabah for his long experience in international diplomacy and diverse humanitarian accomplishments as well as his good will role in defusing crises and conflicts throughout the world. Kuwait’s Ambassador to Qatar Hafeedh Al-Ajmi said that the artwork depicted the GCC peoples’ sentiments of endearment toward His Highness the Amir due to his major role at the level of boosting joint GCC action. The artist has revealed his inner sentiments of affection toward the sagacious leader, who has been keen for years on maintaining Arab unity. – KUNA
