Minister signs retirees’ health insurance contract – Deal worth KD 82 million for one year

KUWAIT: Minister of Health Dr Ali Saad Al-Obaidi yesterday signed a social insurance contract for retirees worth KD 82 million for a whole year. The project covers 107,000 retirees recoded in the social insurance system, minister Obaidi told reporters after the signing ceremony. The project, named Afya (good health) crowns hard efforts and cooperation between the government and the National Assembly for the interest of retirees, he added.

Regardless of age, the project provides for KD 15,500 health insurance coverage for a male retiree, annually, and KD 17,000 for a woman, the minister said. Afya cards will be offered to retirees after three months, the minister said, adding that an awareness campaign will be launched to inform beneficiaries how to benefit from the insurance system. Obaidi stressed that the project does not cover health insurances abroad. – KUNA
