Fish back to pre-boycott prices

KUWAIT: Local fish prices continued to rise after the end of the boycott campaign last week. Organizers of the public campaign dubbed ‘Let it Spoil’ accused vendors at fish markets around Kuwait of being the reason behind the rise, while the Kuwaiti Fishermen Union denied involvement in any artificial increase in prices. As of yesterday, the prices of local Zubaidi (silver pomfret) reached KD 10- 11 per kilogram, Hamour (greasy grouper) reached KD 5-5.5, and Baloul (small greasy grouper) reached KD 7.

‘Meid’ fishing resumed Separately, the Kuwait Fishermen Union resumed fishing for ‘Meid’ or mullet fish following a decision by the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources Affairs.
