KUWAIT: Bahrain yesterday beat Yemen in the second round of competitions in Group B of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup held in Kuwait.

Bahraini players, in the first half of the match played at Kuwait Sports Club, dominated the pitch but missed chances to score until minute 37th, when they earned a penalty, with Jamal Rashed scoring the single and winning goal.

In the second half, the Yemenis sneaked the Bahraini lines several times, but neither they nor the Bahrainis who also attacked repeatedly could score.

Bahrain, with this win, has boosted its chances to qualify for the semi-final, with four points in the pocket. The Yemenis’ qualifying hopes have almost vanished. – KUNA
