Amir thanks allies on 27th anniversary of Iraqi invasion

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent cables yesterday to leaders of Gulf nations, expressing gratefulness to them for standing by Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion of the country 27 years ago. Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Bahraini King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifa, the Sultan of Oman Qaboos Bin Saeed and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with leaders of nations which made up the Allied Coalition, were the recipients of His Highness the Amir’s cables.

 

In his cables, His Highness the Amir said that these nations’ contributions to the liberation of Kuwait from an atrocious invasion would forever be etched in the memories of Kuwaitis. He also wished these countries, whom Kuwait enjoys great ties with, continued development and prosperity. Cables of identical content were addressed by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

 

In other news, His Highness the Amir received yesterday at Bayan Palace National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem. His Highness the Amir also received His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. His Highness Sheikh Sabah received First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. – KUNA
