The joy of giving

real-fouzEvery day, we wake up wanting to work harder and go that extra mile in order to achieve our goals faster and more efficiently. Our lives can go by extremely quickly till the day comes that it hits you how there are many less fortunate people living in this world. That is when we start considering doing more good, not only for others, but also for ourselves. When you give back; in terms of charity, working at a shelter, and so on, you actually feel better about yourself! To some people, giving back is what they do in life, it’s their job, and I’m pretty sure those people are the happiest people around. You can do so much for people living around you, and all over the world.

What I’ve been doing for a while is, every now and then I put together a few of my clothes, shoes, handbags that I’ve either grown out from or don’t want anymore and give it to people who are in need. Mamas, if your kids are growing out of their clothes, shoes and toys, this is also a great activity you can introduce to the kids. It feels awesome to know that you have contributed in the improvement of someone else’s life or family. Doing good for others definitely means that others will do good for you the day you need it.

Nothing lasts forever
Thinking about how this universe works, nothing lasts forever. Nothing you have will last forever being yours, which means, you might as well share some of what you have with people who are not as lucky as you are. The smallest of donations will do wonders for a child who suffers from poverty, families who cant afford to eat, and countries that suffer from corruption and wars.

Going on trips that aim for building schools, giving our medical help or donations is an amazing way to see and experience how others are living. It is only when you put yourself in their shoes that you truly understand how life can be difficult. It’s a sense of purpose and it gives you a whole new perspective about life and how life works its weird ways in order for certain things to take place. Of course it’s a blessing to enjoy what we have and what we have worked hard for, but it can also be a curse. Forgetting about the rest of the world and the less fortunate can sometimes derive you from the feeling charity gives, the sense of care, love and giving. You reach a point in life where you no longer work for money, you work for the things that matter more. Money means power, maybe happiness to a few, however, money doesn’t last as long as your relationships in this world will.

What goes around comes around
You can only love others when you care for them, give more than you take, and be more willing to be involved in making a change. Becoming that person will help you be more in peace with yourself. Charity work teaches humility, it also makes you more humble and appreciative of what you already have. Putting smiles on young and hopeless faces will change the way you live your life, guaranteed.

The world doesn’t only go around your job and the money you make, because at the end of the day your business is based on the relationships you have built with others, and the reputation you have made for yourself or business. These things surely matter, but the more you give the more the universe gives back to you, on your terms. Karma plays a huge role in many people’s happiness, it shouldn’t be taken lightly and always remember, what goes around comes around.
