Taking care of your hair

real-fouzWe all suffer from dry hair due to over styling our hair and using many products that contain various harmful chemicals. Believe it or not, certain masks and treatments can also harm our hair if we use them often. Of course taking care of your hair and making sure it is healthy is the number one and most important step to having beautiful, shiny hair.

Due to what I do and my work, I tend to style my hair a lot. A LOT. So, it is essential to take care of my hair to keep its shine and volume. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to keep it looking healthy. My hair regimen does include a lot of treatments, masks and home recipes that I’ve found online and tried out.

I figured why not share with you guys what I usually use or do at least once a week. I think what has worked the best for me is coconut oil - so far has been the best moisture restorer I’ve used, especially since I color my hair, so my hair tends to turn dry if I don’t take care of it. What I do is I either work coconut oil into my hair masks during the shower or I rub it on my scalp and over my hair for about 15-20 minutes. It doesn’t smell weird and will really leave you with that shine after you wash it off.

Another mask I love using is mixing olive oil with honey. Honey is known to do wonders to not only your hair, but to your skin as well. Many facials and skin masks include honey. This mask restores the moisture in your hair and as well in your scalp, as no one likes a dry, flaky scalp! Keep it on for about 30 minutes.

Hair Care
If you suffer from split ends and extremely dry hair (mid-way all the way down to the ends) I would suggest using this mask, which is a bit stronger because it includes more ingredients. Mix honey, almond oil and apple cider vinegar (not the normal vinegar) together and focus on the split ends and work yourself a little higher to where you feel your hair is damaged and dry (not to the scalp). This is a temporary solution to not get rid of your split ends but to make them look better. The ultimate solution is to cut them off and repair your hair to have your hair look healthier.

Another thing not a lot of girls realize is that washing our hair doesn’t only involve two steps - shampooing then conditioning. It’s actually three steps which includes an oil replacement. I usually use Pantene Oil Replacement. I used to do it all wrong till I learnt that I wasn’t supposed to use it all over my hair but only on the tips during the shower or after drying it. A little goes a long way, but this oil replacement works wonders and is all about having healthy hair before worrying about how it’s supposed to look beautiful.

Good Hair is Beautiful
As everyone knows, I love big, voluminous hair. It represents me and has become a part of my personality. I always say, good hair makes a girl look beautiful and it is always difficult to keep it healthy and looking good due to the weather, tanning or being out in the sun, coloring and styling. Sometimes your hair can be too exhausted and damaged that it is almost impossible to repair and that when we tend to go for chemical treatments, which can give us the results we want, in terms of putting less effort to make it look good for a short period of time, but after a while and after the period of the treatment is over, your hair will not only go back to its original state but worse. Looking after your hair should be as important as taking care of your skin and nails, because it’s a part of your beauty and health regimen. Your hair might be a bit trickier but definitely worth it.
