Ramadan Greets

First of all, I would like to wish HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al- Sabah, Cabinet members, heads of states around the world, citizens, expatriates and our valued readers Ramadan Kareem. Now that Ramadan is upon us for the next 29/30 days, Muslims around the world will fast from dawn till sunset out of heartfelt obedience to God.

Fasting does not only mean changing your diet and eating times, it has to be done with the intention to worship the All Mighty and to abstain from all acts that nullify the fast. Nowadays, many people don’t realize that using foul language, losing your temper and patience with people ruin their fast and defy the whole meaning of the month.

I hope that during this month people pray for those unfortunate people who are forced to spend Ramadan under the threat of lethal weapons used in wars and conflicts that are plaguing this region. Give a thought to those people and contemplate on why this is happening and never take for granted the peace and security we enjoy here in Kuwait.

I urge people of influence in this region to also contemplate - and use their patience and wisdom to find ways to spread peace and dialogues that bring sects together rather than create divisions. The policy of proxy wars and supporting groups that could get you to your political agenda is a suicidal policy that creates monsters that will turn around and bite you once they have grown.

I hope that politicians would think hard during this holy month and commit to the policy of direct, clear negotiations for both internal and regional issues - no matter how long it takes. That method would be the way forward to a peaceful long lasting solution to any problem the world faces. I wish you all a peaceful holy month. Ramadan Mubarak.
