IS and ‘Soft Power’

Some clerics and scholars act strangely and come up with the strangest stories and fatwas (rulings on Islamic law), such as the ban on open buffets, instructions to drink the urine of a female camel and adult breastfeed, in addition to many other issues and fatwas that are no different from what Islamic State (IS) comes up with; and these have been alienating people from the true religion.

With such practices, it appears that all this underdeveloped nation needs to do to rise again is to repeat such bizarre ideas coming from those ‘dervishes’ (a Muslim religious group known for their wild rituals).

What is even funnier and stranger is how other clerics keep silent about such far-fetched bizarre ideas as if they themselves like and approve of them.

They never condemn such ideas on their podiums nor get angry with what those people who are dressed like scholars and hiding behind religion have been saying.

Nonetheless, those ‘silent’ scholars get very angry and immediately jump to describing whoever criticizes such fatwas and exposes IS practices as an infidel.

Things seem so backwardly now and man seems to have taken control of Islam, to the point in which any criticism to worldly creatures is deemed criticism to the religion itself.

Finally, I would like to highlight the sleeping IS cells that were awakened by the comedian artist Nasser Al-Qassabi through his recent TV show in which he strongly condemns and criticizes twisted practices by the terrorist groups in the name of religion.

I would like to point here that those who made so much fuss about the show and those who want us to believe that they are Allah’s agents on earth, only mean to silence everybody and keep paths open for more IS ideas and practices to spread among people as IS ‘soft power.’
