Fireman hurt in basement blaze

KUWAIT: A fire broke out in the basement of a four-storey Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh building yesterday morning exacerbated by sponge, lumber and decorative materials stored in the basement, said security sources. Firemen rushed to the scene where they had to evacuate the whole building to fight the fire. The fire was contained without any casualties except for a fireman who suffered from thermal stress and smoke inhalation and was treated on site.

Teen hurt in fall A 16-year-old citizen recently sustained several injuries when he fell into a three-meters-deep construction pit outside a friend’s house in Hetteen, said security sources. The young man was visiting his friend and did not see the hole because it was covered. He fell in, hurting his head and foot, and sustained several bruises all over. The young man was rescued and handed over to paramedics.

Truck accident A driver was recently injured when he lost control over his ready-mix truck in Ahmadi flyover and it turned over, said security sources. He was taken to the nearest medical facility.

Gun smuggling Following up the arrest of a citizen three days ago for importing parts of weapons through air parcels arriving at Kuwait airport, security sources said that another parcel arrived yesterday with the remaining parts of two guns. The inspectors explained that the two parcels the citizen received included parts of two North American .22 caliber guns. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress.

Liquor bottles confiscated An Indian man was recently arrested with the possession of 15 imported liquor bottles, said security sources. He was taken to the concerned authorities for further action.

Robbery A bedoon woman reported that unknown robbers broke open her vehicle in Rumaithiya and stole KD 200 in cash, her driver’s license, security ID and ATM cards.
