Diyya to be paid to martyrs’ families

KUWAIT: The Cabinet recently instructed the finance ministry to coordinate with the interior and health ministry to list the names of all martyrs, including non- Kuwaitis, killed in the Al-Sadiq Mosque explosion so that their families could be paid the legitimate diyya (a financial compensation paid to the victim or heirs of a victim in the cases of murder based on Islamic sharia law).

Zour Refinery The Supreme Oil Council is scheduled to meet today to discuss Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s board recommendation regarding Zour Refinery’s extra budget of KD 870 million.

Municipality losses Minister of Communications and State Minister for Municipality Affairs Essa Al- Kandari recently referred a final report on municipality losses to the public prosecution. This report was made by the committee formed to investigate the municipality’s lost cases in the periods covering 2009 to 2013, which amounted to KD 14 million in compensation. Kandari said that the investigation aims at holding those responsible for each case’s mistakes accountable in order to avoid the same mistakes in the future
