Amir lauds solidarity, unity among Kuwaitis

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah meets Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah expressed great admiration of the unity and solidarity among Kuwaitis since the terrorist attack on Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque on Friday. His Highness the Amir said this unity has shown the true image of Kuwaiti people as one family that is loyal to the homeland and united behind its leaders against violence and extremism. His Highness the Amir underlined that the crime of killing of innocent people contradicts with all religious teachings.

This attack has drawn wide-scale condemnation from the whole world, he said. His Highness the Amir hailed the highly-efficient work of security agencies which helped unveil the circumstances and arrest those involved in the crime. His Highness the Amir also thanked the armed forces, Ministry of Health, Kuwait Fire Service, Ministry of Information, and local and international press and all the bodies and organizations that contributed to the efforts and measures taken after the attack.

His Highness the Amir expressed thanks to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, the National Guard Chief His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al- Mohammad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, parliament members, citizenry and residents on their good sentiments after the tragic incident. His Highness the Amir thanked leaders around the world and heads of the government and international organizations which condoled with Kuwait.

Amir receive PhD holders
Separately, His Highness the Amir received at Seif Palace yesterday a host of academics who offered him copies of their PhD theses. Sheikha Dr Shamayel Ahmad Al-Sabah offered His Highness the Amir her PhD thesis on management of emergency business operations. Sheikha Dr Ruqaya Salman Al-Sabah offered His Highness the Amir a PhD thesis on management of engineering contracts in the Arabian Gulf. His Highness the Amir was offered a PhD thesis by Dr Sanaa Ali Al-Asfour on a guiding behavioral program for developing social skills among juvenile delinquents in Kuwait. Dr Meshari Mohammad Al-Mutawtah dedicated His Highness the Amir a PhD Thesis on the effect of a sports and diet program on certain physical and physiological changes among the obese in Kuwait. His Highness the Amir was offered a PhD thesis by Dr Tahani Masoud Al-Adwani on measuring quality of Islamic banking services in Kuwait.

Amir receives envoys
Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir received outgoing Bosnian Ambassador to Kuwait Senahid Bristric, and the Vatican’s outgoing Ambassador to Kuwait Archbishop Petar Rajic. Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah was present in both meetings.

Also yesterday, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah received at Seif Palace the visiting former president of Al-Azhar University Professor Ahmad Omar Hashim. Hashim, a member of Al-Azhar Council of Senior Scholars, expressed condolences and deep sympathy to His Highness the Crown Prince over the victims of the suicide attack that hit Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Kuwait City on Friday killing 26 people and wounding 227 others.

He wished those injured speedy recovery, and prayed for Kuwait’s security and safety under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir. His Highness the Crown Prince appreciated Professor Hashim’s warm sentiments and lauded his efforts and moderate approach in preaching Islam. His Highness the Crown Prince also expressed his condolences to Egypt over the killing of the country’s chief prosecutor on Monday. —KUNA
