Annual shooting tourney concludes

KUWAIT: With Deputy Chairman of National Security Department Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al- Salem Al-Sabah and President of Asian and Kuwait Shooting Federations, ISSF Vice-president Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the tournament of the late Sheikh Ali Sabah Al-Salem came to a close Saturday at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

The tournament attracted a large number of shooters from the club and the military, police and national guard sports association who competed in the Olympic skeet, trap, double trap and air gun events. Shooting school students also participated. Kuwait Shooting Sports Club secretary General Obaid Al-Osaimi welcomed the guests and participants in this annual event, as the late Sheikh Ali Al- Sabah contributed to launching Kuwait shooting to the international level, when he participated in the CISM (military championship).

He said that Sheikh Ali was instrumental in rebuilding Kuwait military after liberation when he was defence minister, then the police and security force when he became interior minister. Al-Osaimi said KSSC board of directors is keen on organizing this tournament to keep alive the memory of the Sheikh and his honorable stands. Sheikh Thamer Al-Sabah and with Sheikh Slaman Al-Humoud along with sheikhs Sabah Bader Al- Sabah, Nasser Ahmad Al-Sabah, Nassser Bader Al- Sabah, Abdullah Bader Al-Sabah and Abdullah Ahmad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah distributed prizes and cups to the winners. Sheikh Thamer Al-Sabah made a special presentation to Kuwaiti Olympian Fuhaid Al-Daihani and handed him a cheque on this occasion.
