Stop Criticising Ruling Family

Member of Parliament Mubarak Al-Waalan is my dear friend, and that should not mean that I can remain silent about his unbalanced speech during the Irada gathering last Monday when he said that if it was not for Kuwaitis’ solidarity the regime would not have returned to power again and that the invasion was a historic opportunity to take over the regime. Further, he wanted to explain the false statements that a group from the majority wants to change the regime and take it from the Al-Sabah family.

As he represents the nation, and I am one of those people, I tell him that there were many words and deeds that could have been an alternative to his statement and explains your opinion of the kind family, but for you to say that if it was not for the solidarity of the people that regime would not have returned, is not correct!

Sabah is part of the people, and remained with them during the invasion to liberate the country; this is first, and second, if it was not for Allah then the efforts of the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad in the United Nations, and the efforts of HH the father Amir the late Sheikh Saad Al-Abdallah, as well as the diplomatic efforts by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad when he was foreign minister, and the effective moves of our Ambassador to Washington, the late Sheikh Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, then the major countries around the world headed by the US, France, and Britain would not have massed their forces to liberate Kuwait and its people from the Iraqi army!

Third, who said that all members of the Al-Sabah family were outside the country during the invasion? Many of them were with the steadfast people in Kuwait, and they made many contributions that were no less than what citizens were doing, despite the danger of their status and the possibility of capturing them at any moment by Iraqis, as the case was with the late Sheikh Salem Fahad Al-Salem and the late Sheikh Mubarak Jaber Al Ali, and for me, as one of the steadfast people, I knew that large amounts of cash were being delivered to families from Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Ali, who was in a very compromising situation as members of the ruling family, and inside the country, along with several other sheikhs.

Then, while many people were leaving the country for many reasons, I personally saw Sheikh Mishal Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, while entering from a neighboring country, as he participated in resisting the occupation, which was a courageous act that many would not do, so how would it be if he was a member of Al-Sabah?

For your information, my brother Mubarak Al-Waalan, the majority of the people does not agree, or wish or even think about anyone ruling them other than the Al-Sabah family!

This is the only family in the GCC countries that is close to the people, and it is the only one that accepts criticism from members of the National Assembly, and it is the best family among ruling families around the world, not only in the Gulf. – Al-Watan
