Egyptian drug peddler nabbed at airport

KUWAIT: A man was arrested at Kuwait International Airport recently after he was caught with possession of drugs he tried to smuggle into the country.
The suspect, an Egyptian man, raised authorities’ suspicion after he turned visibly uncomfortable during routine security checks. A precautionary search of his luggage revealed that ten pieces of hashish were skillfully hidden inside boxes of traditional Egyptian sweets.

Following his arrest, the man was taken to the General Department of Drug Control where he has been imprisoned. He was charged with possession and smuggling of drugs with intention to sell. If convicted, the suspect could be sentenced to death according to Kuwait’s Penal Code.
